  1. The department aims to cultivate modern citizens with comprehensive life science knowledge and basic humanistic literacy. The curriculum actively connects with industry. Students interested in exploring the mysteries of life sciences are welcome to apply.
  2. Students are required to perform laboratory experiments to build foundational professional skills. Some experiments involve color or image-based observation. Due to safety considerations and experimental requirements, students must have independent operation ability and personal safety awareness.

Undergraduate Admission (Application)
Eligibility Applicants must be current or graduated students from public or accredited private high schools or vocational schools in Taiwan or abroad, or meet the “Equivalent Academic Qualification Standards for University Admission.” Applicants must also have taken the General Scholastic Ability Test (GSAT) in Chinese, English, Math A, Social Studies, and Natural Sciences.
Admission Quota 24 students (23 general, 1 indigenous additional quota)

Expected Interview Candidates 69 students
Selection Method & Scoring First Stage: GSAT (CEEC examination)

Screening thresholds:
Chinese: average level, English: average level (5x), Math A: average level (4x), Science: high average (3x)

Weighted GSAT scores:
English ×1.00, Math ×1.00, Science ×2.00 (40% of total score)

Second Stage (NCKU evaluation):
1. Document review (25%)
2. Interview (35%)

Tie-breaking order:
1. Interview + document review score
2. Interview score
3. Science GSAT score
Notes 1. The department aims to cultivate citizens with comprehensive life science knowledge and humanistic literacy, and promotes industry linkage. Applicants interested in life sciences are welcome.

2. Students must perform laboratory experiments, including equipment operation, reagent preparation, microscopy, color recognition, field investigation, teamwork, communication, risk awareness, emotional control, and stress resistance.

Star Program (Recommendation Admission)
Eligibility Students who have studied continuously in the same high school in Taiwan, completed Grades 10 and 11, and meet the ranking percentile and GSAT requirements.
Quota 8 students (8 general, 1 indigenous additional quota)
GSAT Requirements English high average, Math A high average, Science high average
Ranking Criteria 1. School academic ranking percentile
2. Science GSAT score
3. Biology academic ranking
4. Total GSAT score (English + Math A + Science)
5. English GSAT score
6. Chemistry academic ranking
7. English academic ranking
Notes Same mission: cultivate life science literacy, industry connection, and encourage applicants interested in life sciences.
Students must be able to perform laboratory work, handle chemicals, use microscopes, conduct fieldwork, and manage stress.

 

University Entrance Examination Allocation
Eligibility Graduates of accredited high schools or vocational schools (or equivalent qualifications defined by the admission committee).
Quota Approx. 19 students (remaining quota from other admissions may be redistributed)
Exam Subjects Required: Chinese (average level)
Weighted: Biology ×1.50, Chemistry ×1.50, English ×1.25, Math A ×1.00, Physics ×1.00
Tie-breaking: Biology → Chemistry → English → Math A → Physics
Notes The department trains students in life sciences and laboratory skills. Students must conduct experiments and interpret results using observation and analytical skills.

Transfer Admission & Winter Transfer

Undergraduate Transfer Admission Information

Taiwan Comprehensive University System Winter Transfer Admission
Eligibility Students who have completed at least two semesters at accredited universities in Taiwan or abroad, or meet joint transfer admission requirements. Students currently enrolled in Year 2 of university study may apply for Year 2 transfer admission. Only one department may be selected.
Quota Approx. 0–4 students 1–2 students
Exam Subjects English, General Biology, General Chemistry
Notes Biology ×1.25, Chemistry ×1.00, English ×1.00 weighting.
Tie-breakers: Biology → Chemistry → English
Required documents: transcripts, autobiography, study plan, two recommendation letters, and supporting documents (e.g., English test scores, awards).

Special Admission (Bachelor Program)
Quota 1 student
Screening Criteria Applicants with outstanding achievements in biology competitions, science fairs, academic Olympiads, or special educational backgrounds.
Selection Document review (40%) + Oral interview (60%)
Notes This program aims to recruit students with strong potential in life sciences. Students must be able to perform laboratory work, handle instruments, and manage experimental risks and stress.
